Necks stiffen from the way modern days are spent: a screen a little too low, a phone held a little too long, a night on the wrong pillow. The joints at the top of the neck also refer pain up into the head, which is why a headache that starts at the base of the skull and wraps behind an eye often has nothing to do with the head itself.
We check how far the neck turns and bends, find the segments that have locked up, and treat the muscles that have been compensating around them. Most people also leave with two or three things to change at a desk or a bedside, because a neck that gets adjusted and then goes straight back into the same position all week will only stiffen again.
